Ah! How nice this week has been! I have enjoyed a week of me time. No work and no real responsibility. I have been running, doing pilates, catching up with friends, cleaning, and relaxing. No need to worry about me any longer, friends. I have a new job.
I don't really know what I will be doing. All I know is that I will be working with customers much less. That is really the only thing I care about. The last day on my old job, I got into a fight with an 85 year old man about $20. I should not be allowed to work with the public.
I will be closer to home, I will be wearing a uniform so I don't have to pick out clothes to wear every awful morning, and I think I will be working less hours but there may be some nights and weekends in there as well. Blegh. I believe that I will be doing much more employee development and management type work rather than direct customer service. Yea!
All of this time to myself has given me time to visit my friends with babies and shop for the shower gifts for my friends who are getting married. Spending so much time doing this stuff inevitably led to thinking. This is why I shouldn't have time to think. I am a planner. I gave up my "life plan" a few years ago. That was the one where I was going to be married by 23 and have kids at 26, 28, and 30 while working my ass off putting myself in a position to retire by the age of 45 so that I can enjoy my retirement without kids and with plenty of money. It didn't work out. I don't want to put myself back on a time line (although the babies and wedding gifts made this all but impossible). I have found that when I do that, I spend too much time planning and not enough time enjoying my time now.
While I am stressing out a bit (not wanting to go back to work, and trying to manage finances) I want to make an effort to try relaxing and enjoying life as it comes a bit more. I will try to enjoy the rest of my vacation without worrying about Monday morning. I don't see this working out well for me, but it is worth an effort. I'll let you know how it goes.
